Candle Care 101

You’ve purchased a premium candle filled with wonderful aromas and quality wax. Now how do you take care of it? Don’t worry we are here for you. Follow these quick steps below for a clean and slow burn everytime!

1. Light It

Light your ALTA Cutura candle for 3 hours on the initial burn. Allow the melt pool to reach the edge of the candle jar. Burning your candle for short amounts of time, "memory ring” or “tunnel” in your candle. You don’t want that, so let it burn! (But do try to keep it under 4 hours).

2. Burn It

While burning keep candles away from air vents for optimal scent throw. When putting out the flame, dip the wick in the melt pool instead of blowing out the flame to prevent after smoke. Another option is to use a candle snuffer to extinguish a candle flame. You can use a wick dipper, chopsticks or the handle of a match. Remember to recenter the wick after dipping.

3. Trim It

Always remember to trim your wick! Doing so prevents the wicks of smoking when lit. Trim wick to ¼ inch before relighting to ensure a clean burn. Remember to lit your candle and remove any debris to keep wax clean.
